In addition to push-ups, plyometrics can help build muscle. Jump squats, and jumping lunges are both good examples of plyometrics. There are many books available on the advantages of jump training. If you happen to have a bar or some other way to perform pull-ups, they are also a great way to gain muscle with only your bodyweight.
