An American Robin in my Birdbath

If you live in North America, you’ve probably seen an American Robin and where I live the first robin of the year means that spring is finally on its way.  These birds live all across the continent, and they’re a very common sight in birdbaths, feeders, and yards.  American Robins can often be seen on the ground trying to pull earthworms up for breakfast.  These cheery little birds are quite popular with bird watchers, and they’re pretty easy to notice, too.  The American Robin has a bright orange breast that is pretty distinctive, as is their happy little song.  Listening to the Robins chirping in the morning is a nice background to your breakfast.  American Robins appear in cities, towns, and forests—you can find them just about anywhere in North America starting in early spring.
